On June 2, 2026, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) released the new Chesar Platform, which is now available on ECHA Cloud Services. It aims to assist enterprises and regulatory authorities in conducting chemical risk assessment and reporting in accordance with the REACH Regulation and the Biocidal Products Regulation.

Key Highlights

  • Integration & Replacement: The new platform integrates the existing Chesar and EUSES tools into a unified, modern assessment environment, and will gradually replace the current Chesar, EUSES 2.2.0, and ECHA's Excel-based biocide calculation tools.
  • Enhanced Functionality: Provides a structured risk assessment workflow with built-in exposure estimation tools and supports standardized reporting; assessment updates are more convenient, and calculation results and reports can be automatically refreshed and generated. The efficiency advantages are even more significant when synchronized with IUCLID substance information.
  • Regulatory Support:
    • REACH users: Supports chemical safety assessment, generation of Chemical Safety Reports (CSR), and exposure scenarios in Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
    • Biocidal product users: Supports environmental exposure and risk assessment of single substances, and generates relevant sections of risk assessment reports / competent authority reports.
  • Scientific Updates: The platform harmonizes assessment methodologies for REACH and biocidal products, and incorporates the latest exposure assessment models; the latest scientific updates are provided exclusively on this new platform.
  • Transition Arrangements: The legacy Chesar 3 will continue to be maintained for approximately one year to allow users to familiarize themselves with the new platform and migrate existing assessments.

ChemRadar Insights

Although the legacy Chesar 3 will continue to be supported for approximately one year, enterprises need to complete the migration of historical assessment data and adapt to the new platform during this period. For companies with a large number of registered substances or complex exposure scenarios, the migration workload should not be underestimated. Enterprises should develop phased migration plans as early as possible, refer to the version notes, user manuals, and data migration guides on the official website, and prioritize substances that are about to be updated or newly submitted.
