The List of Toxic and Hazardous Water Pollutants (hereinafter referred to as the Water List) is formulated and released by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment in collaboration with the National Health Commission on July 23, 2019 in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law of the People's Republic of China.Based on the Inventory of Priority Controlled Substances (First Batch),the Water List selects 10 categories of chemical substances that can be controlled and discharged into the water environment:five volatile organic compounds, including dichloromethane, chloroform , trichloroethylene, tetrachloroethylene, and formaldehyde,five heavy metals substances including cadmium and cadmium compounds, mercury and mercury compounds, chromium VI compounds, lead and lead compounds, and arsenic and arsenic compounds.
