Occupational Exposure Limits for Hazardous Agents in the Workplace in China - Part 1: Chemical Hazardous Agents (GBZ 2.1-2019), issued by the National Health Commission on August 27, 2019, and officially implemented on April 1, 2020, is a mandatory national occupational health standard. Currently, the list of occupational exposure limits for biological agents in workplace air includes three biological hazardous agents: Beauveria bassiana spores, subtilisin, and industrial enzymes. These substances are mainly found in specific industrial environments, such as fermentation industries, enzyme preparation production, and agricultural biotechnology workplaces, and can cause respiratory diseases such as occupational asthma, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, and extrinsic allergic alveolitis.
► Employers should ensure that the concentration of biological agents in workplace air complies with the PC-TWA and PC-STEL requirements.
► In addition to meeting the limit requirements, biological agent prevention and control should also involve sealing equipment and isolating exposed personnel, installing local exhaust ventilation systems, providing dust masks, protective goggles, protective clothing, and other dust-proof equipment for exposed personnel, regularly cleaning and disinfecting workplaces, equipping with washing, disinfection equipment and pharmaceuticals, and developing emergency plans for biological hazard incidents.
