The China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) is a directly affiliated institution of the State Council. It is responsible for the unified supervision and administration of the national securities and futures markets in accordance with laws, regulations, and authorization from the State Council. Its mission is to maintain market order and ensure the lawful operation of the securities and futures markets.
The CSRC is headquartered in Beijing. It currently has one chairman, four vice chairmen, and one head of the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Group stationed at the CSRC. The commission has 19 functional departments and a Party Committee (Disciplinary Committee). It also has 36 securities regulatory bureaus in provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government, and planned single-listed cities, as well as special offices for securities regulation in Shanghai and Shenzhen.
