The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China is the diplomatic organ of the government of the People's Republic of China and a component department of the State Council in charge of foreign affairs. It is responsible for handling diplomatic matters between the government of the People's Republic of China and the governments of other countries, as well as with intergovernmental international organizations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was established in September 1954, succeeding the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Central People's Government, which was founded in October 1949.
