The Chinese Academy of Engineering, commonly abbreviated as CAE or referred to as the Academy of Engineering, is the highest honorary and advisory academic institution in the field of engineering and technology in the People's Republic of China. It is a full-ministerial-level public institution directly under the State Council. Established in 1994, the Chinese Academy of Engineering was spun off from the technical science division of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and is supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China. Its primary mission is to conduct strategic research on important national engineering and technological issues, provide decision-making consultations, and promote the development of China's engineering and technological endeavors. Together with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering is collectively known as the "Two Academies."
