The Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources was formed by consolidating the functions of the former Municipal Commission of Urban Planning and Land Resources Management, the Municipal Office for Surveying, Design, and Geomatics Management, the main functional zoning plan compilation from the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, and resource survey and registration management from the Municipal Water Authority and the Municipal Landscape and Forestry Bureau. It serves as a municipal government department and also acts as the Office of the Capital Planning and Construction Commission. The commission was inaugurated on November 8, 2018.
