About
The Ministry of Industry (Thailand) (English name: Ministry of Industry, Thailand; English abbreviation: MOI) is a cabinet-level department of the Thai government, responsible for promoting and regulating industry. The Ministry of Industry (MOI) was established in 1933 as the Industrial Division (Thai: กองอุตสาหกรรม) under the Department of Commerce (Thai: กรมพาณิชย์), which was part of the now-defunct Ministry of Economy (Thai: กระทรวงเศรษฐกิจ). In 1941, the Industrial Division was upgraded to the Ministry of Industry, still under the Ministry of Economy. On May 5, 1942, the Ministry of Industry formally became an independent department.
