The Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, commonly known as the Australian Government (English: Government of Australia), is the government of the Commonwealth of Australia, a federal parliamentary constitutional monarchy.
The Australian federal government is divided into three branches:
1) The Executive Branch. The highest executive body is the Federal Executive Council, presided over by the Governor-General; however, executive power is exercised by the Australian Cabinet, led by the Prime Minister.
2) The Legislative Branch. This is the responsibility of the Australian Parliament, which consists of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
3) The Judicial Branch. It is composed of the High Court of Australia and the Federal Court of Australia.
