The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Ukrainian: Верховна Рада України, Romanized: Verkhovna Rada Ukrainy, literally: Supreme Council of Ukraine) is the Parliament of Ukraine, which has been in place since Ukraine's independence in 1991. It is a unicameral legislature, and its predecessor was the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.
