This regulation specifies general standards, purity, labeling requirements, etc., of adhesives for packaging and equipment in direct contact with food. It excludes pressure-sensitive adhesives in direct contact with food, as their properties must comply with the technical regulations corresponding to elastic materials in the Mercosur.

 This regulation establishes technical requirements for silicones used in the manufacturing of materials, containers, coatings, and equipment that come into contact with food within the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), including general provisions, positive lists, etc., applicable to silicones used in materials, containers, coatings, and equipment for food contact. Additionally, it amends Resolutions GMC 27/99 (adhesives), 28/99 (elastomers), and 02/12 (plastics), applicable to intra-country trade, inter-country trade among member states, and imports from outside the region.
