This standard specifies the limit indicators for lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, tin, nickel, chromium, nitrites, nitrates, benzo[a]pyrene, N-nitrosodimethylamine, polychlorinated biphenyls, and 3-chloro-1,2-propanediol in food.

This amendment modifies the "Table 8 Limit of Nitrite and Nitrate in Food" and "Appendix A Explanation of Food Categories (Names)" in the National Food Safety Standard Limits of Contaminants in Food (GB 2762-2022). The "Table 8 Limit of Nitrite and Nitrate in Food" adds the food category of edible bird's nest with a nitrite limit requirement of 30 mg/kg; the "Appendix A Explanation of Food Categories (Names)" adds the category of "edible bird's nest" under other categories (foods other than those mentioned above), applicable for the control of contaminants in food.
