This Convention stipulates measures to reduce or eliminate releases of persistent organic pollutants. These include measures to reduce or eliminate releases from intentional production and use, the register of specific exemptions, reducing or eliminating releases from unintentional production, POPs in stockpiles, products, and articles in use and wastes, public awareness, information and education, and research, development and monitoring. It applies to activities related to the control of persistent organic pollutants in the Parties to the Convention.
