This Regulation establishes maximum levels for certain contaminants in foodstuffs. It includes definitions of relevant terms, general provisions, specific requirements for dried, diluted, processed, and composite foodstuffs, a prohibition on detoxification, requirements for foodstuffs requiring sorting or other physical treatment before being placed on the market for final consumption or use as food ingredients, labeling rules for groundnuts, other oilseeds, their derived products, and cereals, conditions for exemptions from the general provisions, as well as monitoring and reporting. Furthermore, its annex lists the maximum levels for certain contaminants in foodstuffs. It applies to the control of contaminants in foodstuffs within the EU.
