This standard specifies the colors used to convey safety information, testing methods for safety colors, and their application methods. It is applicable to the surface colors of signals and signs used in public places, production and business units, transportation, construction, storage industries, and firefighting, but does not apply to colors used in light signals and for navigation, inland waterway transportation, and other purposes.

This document specifies the color representation for conveying safety information, types of safety signs, and their placement and usage requirements. It includes basic identification colors and symbols for industrial piping and is applicable to the design, production, and placement of safety signs in production and business units and public places where there is a safety risk or a need to alert for safety. It does not apply to traffic signs used in railways, roads, inland waterways, maritime, and air transport.
