This amendment, identified as the 42-24 amendment, will be deemed accepted as of July 1, 2025, and will come into effect on January 1, 2026. It specifies general provisions, definitions and training; classification; dangerous goods list, special provisions, and exceptions; packaging and tank provisions; consignment procedures; construction and testing of packaging, intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), large packaging, portable tanks, multiple-element gas containers (MEGCs), and road tankers; transportation operations requirements, applicable to all ships subject to the amended 1974 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) transporting dangerous goods as defined in Chapter VII Part A Section 1 of the Convention.
