This amendment includes: Part 1:General provisions, definitions, and training, encompassing terms, measurement units, abbreviations, security guidelines, and general regulations for radioactive materials; Part 2:Classification updates for Class 4 - Flammable Solids; Substances that self-ignite; Substances that emit flammable gases upon contact with water, Class 5 - Oxidizing substances and Organic Peroxides, Class 6 - Toxic and infectious substances, Class 7 - Radioactive materials, Class 8 - Corrosive substances, and Class 9 - Miscellaneous dangerous substances and articles (Class 9) along with environmentally hazardous substances; Part 3:The List of dangerous goods, special provisions, general rules for exemptions and limited quantities, and specific provisions for particular substances, materials, or items; Part 4:Packaging and tank regulations, including the use of Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) and large packaging, portable tanks, and Multiple Element Gas Containers (MEGCs); Part 5:Stowage procedures; Part 6:Construction and testing of packaging, IBCs, large packaging, portable tanks, MEGCs, and road tankers; Part 7 :Amendments related to transport operations, among others. This amendment is applicable to those involved in the international maritime transportation of dangerous goods.

International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code (Amendment)

This amendment, identified as the 42-24 amendment, will be deemed accepted as of July 1, 2025, and will come into effect on January 1, 2026. It specifies general provisions, definitions and training; classification; dangerous goods list, special provisions, and exceptions; packaging and tank provisions; consignment procedures; construction and testing of packaging, intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), large packaging, portable tanks, multiple-element gas containers (MEGCs), and road tankers; transportation operations requirements, applicable to all ships subject to the amended 1974 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) transporting dangerous goods as defined in Chapter VII Part A Section 1 of the Convention.
