On March 30, 2026, the European Parliament and the Council jointly adopted a draft EU directive proposing amendments to three key water policy directives.

This regulation will come into force on June 30, 2026, repealing and replacing the Prohibition of Certain Toxic Substances Regulations, 2012.

Chlorpyrifos, MCCPs, and C9-21 PFCAs will be added into Part A of Annex I to the EU POPs Regulation (EU) 2019/1021.

Stakeholders must submit feedback on the proposed rule by December 29, 2025.

The mapping systematically outlines PFAS applications across 14 major industrial, professional, and consumer sectors, including battery manufacturing, textiles, electronics, and PFAS production.

While the regulations took effect on July 1, 2025, core restrictions will be enforced starting July 1, 2026, with businesses permitted to sell existing inventory until January 1, 2027.

The regulation will enter into force on October 23, 2025.

The listing will take effect on January 1, 2026.
