The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) provides lists of products under compulsory certification. There are two certification schemes for manufacturers: the Indian Standards Institute Certification Scheme (ISI) and the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS). The two different schemes cover different products.
Scheme I (ISI Mark Scheme) cover a wide range of products for both industrial and consumer markets, such as construction materials, chemicals, household appliances, medical devices, vehicle parts and food, and etc. Products in the ISI Scheme are also required to conduct a factory inspection.
Products qualified for ISI will be issued an ISI label. Recently, the Indian government has added more chemicals to Scheme I, which means the Indian government intends to further regulate the quality products of chemicals and safeguard the safety of consumers and the environment. Chemicals in Scheme I and Scheme II are required to obtain relevant certificates.
Here are some products listed in the Scheme I (ISI Mark Scheme) in the following:
Enterprises shall pay attention to the effective date of products listed in the Scheme I, and make preparations in advance. Enterprises should also make full preparations for data collection, product inspection and factory inspection. Only when their products obtain ISI label can they be competitive in the Indian market.
ISI and CRS are effective measures to improve standards of product quality in the Indian market, boost consumers' confidence in product quality and safety, and make contributions to the sustainable development of India.
