South Korea Implements K-REACH Grace Period Policy

On February 27, 2025, South Korea's Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Justice held a joint press conference to announce the official implementation of the grace period plan for the Act on the Registration and Evaluation of Chemicals (K-REACH), starting February 28. Businesses that have not fulfilled their chemical registration, modification declaration, or pre-declaration obligations can avoid up to five years of imprisonment, a fine of 100 million KRW, and an additional penalty of 5% of sales revenue if they voluntarily declare and rectify within eight months, by October 27.
