Australia Adds a Chemical Substance to AIIC

On April 15, 2025, the Australian Industrial Chemicals Safety Authority (AICIS) announced that, in accordance with Section 83 of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019, a new chemical substance has been formally added to the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals (AIIC) following a comprehensive safety assessment.

Chemical Name

Carbamic acid, N,N,-1,6-hexanediylbis-, C,C,-bis[2-[2-(1-ethylpentyl)-3-oxazolidinyl]ethyl] ester

Defined Scope of Assessment

The chemical has been assessed:

l  as imported into Australia at up to 200 tonnes/year in neat form or as a component of coating, adhesive and sealant end use products at 20% concentration

l  for reformulation of the neat form into coating, adhesive and sealant end use products

l  for end use in coating, adhesive and sealant products at concentration up to 20% by professional workers only

Listing date

April,11 2025

The Australian government emphasized that the inclusion was based on scientific evaluations of the chemical’s safety profile. It will continue to advance dynamic updates to the AIIC.
