AICIS Regulatory Update: Two Chemicals Added to the AIIC

Under Section 83 of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019, the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals (AIIC) officially added two industrial chemicals that have passed safety assessments on July 10, 2025. This update, implemented after the issuance of assessment certificates, is aimed at regulating the safe use of these chemicals in consumer products.

  • Fine fragrances - at up to 0.28% concentration
  • Cleaning and furniture care products - at up to 0.1% concentration
  • Laundry and dishwashing products - at up to 0.1% concentration
  • Apparel and footwear care products - at up to 0.1% concentration
  • Air care products - at up to 1% in continuous action air fresheners and up to 0.1% in instant action air fresheners

  • Fine fragrances - at up to 0.46% concentration
  • Laundry, dishwashing, disinfecting, and fabric softener products - at up to 0.1% concentration
  • Air care products - at <1% in continuous action air fresheners and up to 0.2% in instant action air fresheners
  • imported or reformulated as a component of finished domestic products for professional use - at up to 0.1% in domestic products such as washing, cleaning, detergent, products and in polishes and wax blends.

These chemicals listed in the inventory have undergone rigorous assessments by the Australian Industrial Chemicals Safety Authority (AICIS). According to the requirements of the Act, enterprises must strictly comply with approved concentration limits and usage scopes to ensure safety in applications such as daily chemical products, home care, and air fresheners.
