Update the UK Mandatory Classification and Labelling List of Chemicals (GB MCL) to the sixth edition-Aug 5,2025

Time: Aug 5, 2025

The UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has released the sixth edition of the Great Britain Mandatory Classification and Labelling List (GB MCL). This update implements the new and revised classification and labelling requirements for 46 chemical substances included in the fourth GB CLP Agency recommendation to ministers, which received ministerial agreement in January 2025. The revisions strengthen regulatory oversight of chemical hazard management and ensure alignment with the independent GB CLP regulatory framework.

The latest edition also corrects a number of technical and clerical errors identified in previous versions of the GB MCL list, including editorial issues and typographical errors, thereby enhancing the list’s accuracy and normative consistency. Businesses are urged to promptly review the updated requirements to ensure full compliance with the current standards for chemical management.
