Australian List of PFAS is available-Oct 20,2025

Time: Oct 20, 2025

On 14 October 2025, pursuant to section 74 of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019, the Executive Director of the Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS) formally commenced an evaluation of the introduction and use of per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in Australia.

This evaluation will conduct a detailed review of 522 PFAS listed on the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals (AIIC). The objective is to confirm whether these PFAS are currently in circulation within Australia. Should any introductions be confirmed, the specific import or production quantities and actual uses will be further verified. This process aims to identify the scope of chemicals requiring further assessment. The listed 522 PFAS substances have now been incorporated into the global PFAS screening database, and users are encouraged to search the database.
