On February 12, 2026, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and Ministry of the Environment (MOE) updated the "Rationale for the classification" of the FY2023 GHS classifications on the official website of the National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE). At the same time, Japan's recommended GHS classification list was also updated for reference by businesses, including 48 newly classified substances and 112 substances with revised classifications.
