On 1 September 2026, the Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS) released the 2026 edition of the Industrial Chemicals Categorisation Guidelines, which took effect on the same day. The updated Guidelines concurrently revised the list of chemicals with high hazards for categorisation—the reference used for determining introduction categories—by adding 293 new entries and updating 122 existing entries. Businesses that introduce industrial chemicals in Australia should promptly review their introduction categorisation against the updated Guidelines. When determining their introduction category, businesses may directly use AICIS's online Guide to categorising your chemical importation and manufacture, which has been synchronously updated to reflect all changes effective from 1 September 2026.
