About
The British Standards Institution (BSI), originally known as the British Engineering Standards Committee, was established in 1901 and became the world's first national standards body. It obtained its Royal Charter in 1929. Over more than a century, BSI has evolved into an internationally renowned provider of standardization services, integrating five complementary business areas: standard development, standard technical information provision, product testing, system certification, and commercial inspection services.
BSI is a leading global authority in standard development and international certification and accreditation services. It has been instrumental in advocating and developing the widely adopted ISO 9000 series of management standards. BSI has registered clients in numerous countries, covering a broad range of standards including quality, environment, health and safety, information security, telecommunications, and food safety.
