Beijing Municipal Bureau of Ecological Environment

The Beijing Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau (abbreviated as the Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau) is a full-bureau-level component of the municipal government. It implements central and municipal policies on ecological environment protection and strengthens the Party's unified leadership in this area. The bureau was newly established in the municipal institutional reform, integrating responsibilities from the former Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau, climate change and emission reduction tasks from the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, groundwater pollution prevention from the Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Commission, water function zoning and water environment protection from the Municipal Water Authority, agricultural pollution control from the Municipal Agriculture Bureau, and environmental protection of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project area.
