The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (Japanese: 農林水産省 / のうりんすいさんしょう, Nōrin Suisan shō) is one of the administrative organs of Japan, commonly abbreviated as MAFF or referred to as the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. Its mission is to “ensure stable food supply, promote the development of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, enhance the welfare of farmers, foresters, and fishers, revitalize rural and mountainous areas as well as intermediate regions, leverage the multifunctional roles of agriculture, protect forests and enhance forest productivity, and properly conserve and manage fishery resources.”
