The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) is one of the central government ministries of Japan. It was established in the 2001 reorganization of central government ministries through the merger of the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Construction, the Hokkaido Development Agency, and the Agency for Land and Natural Resources. Its scope of responsibilities includes national land planning, rivers, urban development, housing, roads, ports, railways, aviation, and the construction and maintenance management of government buildings.
