Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China

The Ministry of Information Industry of the People's Republic of China was formerly a component department of the State Council, in charge of the electronics and information product manufacturing industry, the communications industry, and the software industry nationwide, and was responsible for promoting the informatization of the national economy and social services. On March 15, 2008, the First Session of the 11th National People's Congress passed a decision on the institutional reform plan of the State Council. The plan included the establishment of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, into which the functions of the Ministry of Information Industry were integrated.
