The Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT) was established in 1940 as a non-profit organization responsible for the development of national standards in Brazil.
Since 1950, ABNT has been active in the field of product certification, developing various programs to meet the needs of Brazilian enterprises. It is responsible for establishing and managing the conformity marks used in voluntary or mandatory product certification schemes. ABNT is also an accreditation body for quality management systems, environmental management systems, and several product certifications.
