Ministry of Science and Technology, People's Republic of China

The Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, formally abbreviated as the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) or simply referred to as the Ministry of Science and Technology, is a component department of the State Council in charge of national science and technology affairs. The Ministry of Science and Technology is mainly responsible for formulating and implementing the national innovation-driven development strategy, guidelines, and policies for scientific and technological development, basic research planning, and advancing the construction of the national innovation system. It also organizes and coordinates major national basic research and applied basic research. The functions of the Central Science and Technology Commission are undertaken by the Ministry of Science and Technology as a whole. In March 2023, the Ministry of Science and Technology was reorganized. The designation of the National Foreign Experts Administration was no longer retained.
