This document specifies the terms and definitions related to chemical classification and labeling, as well as the general principles for the classification and labeling of chemical hazards, safety data sheets, and applies to the classification and labeling of chemicals according to the United Nations Global Chemicals Classification and Labeling System. Chemicals, pesticide residues in food, food additives, and cosmetics, when intentionally ingested, are not covered by the labeling requirements of this document. However, if workers may come into contact with them or there is a potential for contact during transport, the requirements of this document must still be followed. Laws and regulations that provide for otherwise are to be followed. Note: The labeling requirements for transport packaging should give priority to the requirements of the "Recommendations on the Regulations for the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Model Regulations".
