This standard adopts the seventh revision of the United Nations Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and specifies the terminology used in chemical hazard classification, hazardous chemical labels, and safety data sheets (SDS); the purpose, scope, and application of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals(GHS); the criteria for classifying the physical hazards, human health hazards, and environmental hazards of chemicals; the safety, health, and environmental information that should be included on labels; information on how to compile SDSs; confidentiality and comprehensibility of information, and training within the GHS. It is applicable to the classification, labeling, packaging, and notification activities related to substances and mixtures on the market by manufacturers, importers, and downstream users in Brazil.
