This act specifies the abbreviations, interpretations, hazardous products, administration and enforcement, hazard categories, and more. It is primarily applicable to hazardous substances/products that pose a threat to public health and safety, including those that are toxic, flammable, explosive, corrosive, infectious, oxidizing, or sensitizing. Such products must comply with the act's requirements by providing chemical safety data sheets and GHS labels when sold or imported within Canada.
