This regulation stipulates provisions for food contact substances and materials in Turkey, covering the purpose, scope, basis and definitions, general rules, special rules for active and intelligent substances and materials, special rules for substance and material groups, general principles for substance authorization, applications for new substance authorization, modifications to authorizations, and declarations of conformity. It applies to substances and materials in Turkey that come into contact with food, including active and intelligent materials, specifically including: a) substances and materials intended to come into contact with food; b) substances and materials that are in contact with food and produced for this purpose; c) substances and materials that may come into contact with food or, under normal or foreseeable conditions of use, may transfer their components to food. It also applies to substances and materials that come into contact with water intended for personal consumption. The regulation does not apply to the following substances and materials: those that form part of food and are edible, such as coatings or packaging materials used for preserving cheese, processed meat products, or fruits; fixed public or private water supply installations; and substances and materials provided as antiques.
