(EU) Regulation (EU) 2025/40 of the European Parliament and of the Council on packaging and packaging waste, amending Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 and Directive (EU)2019/904, and repealing Directive 94/62/EC

This Regulation covers packaging safety, sustainability, and recyclability requirements, along with specific recycling targets, recycled content targets, and reuse targets. It aims to prevent the generation of packaging waste and to enhance the recycling and reuse rates of such waste, thereby driving the packaging sector towards a circular economy. It applies to all packaging, irrespective of the materials used, and to all packaging waste, regardless of where the packaging is used or where the packaging waste originates (e.g., industry, other manufacturing, retail or distribution, offices, services, or households).
