Linear Alkyl Benzene (Quality Control) Order, 2022

This Ordinance stipulates that linear alkylbenzene (LAB) must comply with the requirements of Indian Standard IS 12795: 2020 “Linear Alkylbenzene—Specifications.” Key requirements include mandatory BIS certification, applicable certification schemes, export exemptions, and the scope of the standard. This regulation applies to all manufacturers and importers who manufacture, import, sell, or distribute linear alkylbenzene within India. Note: This regulation was originally scheduled to take effect on October 3, 2022, but was subsequently amended and postponed to April 3, 2023. A temporary suspension order was issued on March 30, 2026, suspending the mandatory certification requirement until July 1, 2026, and was later extended to September 30, 2026.
