On March 28, 2025, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China jointly issued the "List of Dangerous Goods (GB 12268-2025)", which will be implemented from October 1, 2025. This new standard will completely replace the previous "List of Dangerous Goods (GB 12268-2012)".

The "List of Dangerous Goods (GB 12268-2025)" falls under the jurisdiction of SAC 469 (Standardization Administration Commission) and is executed by TC251 (National Technical Committee 251 on Hazardous Chemicals Management). The drafting work was primarily undertaken by Water Transport Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport, Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry Testing Co., Ltd., China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation and Nanning Customs Technology Center.

The official text of "List of Dangerous Goods (GB 12268-2025)" is expected to be publicly released within 20 working days after its promulgation. According to the draft for comments released on March 1, 2023, GB 12268-2025 is highly likely to align with the "Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods - Model Regulations (22nd revised edition)" and will be harmonized with relevant domestic management regulations and technical standards for dangerous goods transportation across waterway, highway, railway, and air transport modes.
