Japan Encourages Public Participation in Comprehensive Assessment of Chemical Degradability

Starting in January 2025, the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, besides using the primary chemical substance review method's test results, introduced the use of various types of information (biodegradability test data, knowledge about similar substances, and (Q)SAR prediction results) weighted as evidence for a comprehensive degradability assessment. On June 9, 2025, they released a list of substances for which they seek active public input for this assessment.
