U.S. EPA Extends Submission Deadline for Safety Data on 16 Chemicals

On June 4, 2025, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) signed a final rule to extend the deadline for submitting health and safety data for 16 designated chemical substances under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) to May 22, 2026, to give the relevant industries more time to prepare for compliance.

Background

On December 13, 2024, EPA issued a final rule requiring manufacturers of 16 specific chemicals to submit copies and lists of certain unpublished health and safety studies. On March 13, 2025, EPA adjusted the deadlines, setting June 11, 2025, for vinyl chloride and September 9, 2025, for the other 15 chemicals. Now, due to the need for more time to provide guidance and concerns over the difficulty companies may face in submitting data, EPA has further extended the reporting deadlines.

The 16 specific chemicals are listed in the table below.
