About
The State Forestry Administration, located at No. 18 Dongjing Road, Dongcheng District, Beijing, was a direct institution of the State Council responsible for forestry work. Its predecessor was the Ministry of Forestry, established on October 1, 1949.
In March 2018, following the State Council’s institutional reform plan approved by the first session of the 13th National People's Congress, the State Forestry Administration’s responsibilities for forest and wetland surveys and registration were transferred to the Ministry of Natural Resources. Its forest fire prevention duties were moved to the Ministry of Emergency Management. The administration’s functions were consolidated into the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, managed by the Ministry of Natural Resources. The State Forestry Administration no longer exists.
