Alkyd resin for coatings

This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, and storage for alkyd resins for coatings. It is applicable to solvent-based alkyd resins for coatings, which are made by polycondensation of polyacids and fatty acids (or oils) with polyols. This standard is also applicable to alkyd resins modified to obtain specific properties, with common modifiers including rosin, phenolic resin, styrene, isocyanate, polyamide, acrylic, epoxy resin, or silicone compounds.
