The Switzerland ChemO is largely aligned with the EU REACH and CLP Regulations. This ordinance specifies general provisions, market placement requirements (including classification, labeling, and packaging of substances and preparations, exposure scenarios, and safety data sheets), notification and declaration of new substances (including new substance declarations, use of data by previous notifiers and data protection periods, new substance declarations for product and process research, declaration and declaration procedures, authorization for placing substances on the market, testing requirements, obligations of manufacturers after placing on the market, reporting obligations), rules for handling substances, preparations, and articles, data processing, fees, and more. It is applicable to biocidal products and the active substances contained therein as mentioned in the Ordinance on Biocidal Products of May 18, 2005, or the Ordinance on Plant Protection Products of May 12, 2010; it is also applicable to radioactive substances and preparations, excluding effects due to their radioactivity; only Articles 5-7 and 81 are applicable to cosmetics as defined in Article 53(1) of the Ordinance on Foodstuffs and Consumer Goods of December 16, 2016, and only concerning environmental protection and classification or assessment related to environmental risks.
