This standard specifies the method for determining the equilibrium boiling point of engine coolants. The equilibrium boiling point refers to the temperature at which the sample, under standard atmospheric pressure, boils and reaches a gas-liquid equilibrium in the cooling device.
Note 1: This standard is applicable to the determination of the boiling point of diluted or concentrated engine coolants.
Note 2: For the preparation method of engine coolant samples containing additives, refer to ASTM D 176.
