1,3-Butadiene is a chemical used in the production of plastics, rubber, adhesives, paints, and various other products. In 2019, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) designated it as the high-priority chemicals for Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) risk evaluation. The EPA plans to have its draft risk evaluation for 1,3-butadiene peer-reviewed by its Science Advisory Committee on Chemicals (SACC) in early 2025 and will publish the draft and solicit public comments in the fall of 2024.
