The CLP Regulation (Classification, Labelling and Packaging), also known as EU Regulation No. 1272/2008, governs the classification, labelling, and packaging of substances and mixtures. It is the EU implementation of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and came into force on 20 January 2009. Compliance with CLP is essential alongside REACH for successful trade with the EU. Under Article 4 of the CLP Regulation, substances and mixtures that do not meet CLP requirements cannot be placed on the EU
