EU REACH Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC)
Introduction of GCIS
"Substances that may have serious and often irreversible effects on human health and the environment can be identified as substances of very high concern (SVHCs). In accordance with REACH Regulation, substances with the following hazard properties may be identified as SVHCs: (1) substances meeting the criteria for classification as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction (CMR) category 1A or 1B in accordance with the CLP Regulation; (2) substances which are persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT) or very persistent and very bioaccumulative (vPvB) according to REACH Annex XIII; (3) substances on a case-by-case basis, that cause an equivalent level of concern as CMR or PBT/vPvB substances. such as endocrine disruptor substances."
