This directive establishes regulations for materials and articles made of regenerated cellulose film intended for food contact within the EU. It includes definitions of regenerated cellulose film, specific requirements, migration testing, approved substance lists, specific substance limits, etc. It applies to regenerated cellulose film that either constitutes the final product or is part of another product and is expected to come into contact with food. It does not apply to films with coatings exceeding 50 mg/dm² on the side in contact with food or to artificial casings made of regenerated cellulose.
