On April 1, 2026, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) launched a call for evidence on the scientific assessment of Occupational Exposure Limits (OELs) for five chemical substances, with a deadline for comments on July 1, 2026.

Call Mechanism and Purpose
The call for evidence is an important preparatory procedure for ECHA's development of scientific reports on OELs, designed to allow all stakeholders to express concerns and submit data at the early stage of scientific report preparation. ECHA emphasizes that the call for evidence is independent of the subsequent formal consultation process on OEL scientific reports, and the two processes are not interchangeable.
